Joseph Edmondson (d.1786) started life as a coach painter. He developed an interest in genealogy and was appointed Mowbray herald Extraordinary in 1764 while still continuing his trade. This volume has an elaborately engraved dedication to George prince of Wales (later George IV) and includes various tables of Precedency (hierarchical order of government officials).
